{"id":11162,"date":"2025-09-12T12:35:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T03:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vietleadershipcoach.com\/?p=11162"},"modified":"2025-09-12T14:35:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T05:05:13","slug":"dhl-vietnam-threatens-shipment-destruction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leehopkins.com\/vi\/dhl-vietnam-threatens-shipment-destruction\/","title":{"rendered":"DHL Vietnam threatens to destroy entire shipment over a few items"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DHL Vietnam saga has taken another surreal turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, Pack &amp; Send relayed DHL Vietnam\u2019s position: that my entire shipment should be destroyed because a small subset of items\u2014marital aids\/sex toys\u2014are prohibited under Vietnamese law. Even though you can buy them in bricks-and-mortar sex shops\u2014and of course online\u2014in Vietnam.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s pause. If that claim is true (and this is the first I\u2019ve ever heard of it), then the solution is obvious: remove the offending items and release the rest of the shipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, DHL Vietnam suggests destruction of the whole consignment. That\u2019s not regulation\u2014that\u2019s disproportionality <strong>bordering on wilful misconduct<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I\u2019ve sent DHL and Pack &amp; Send an explicit authorisation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the consignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the specific items they claim are prohibited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Destroy only those items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide written confirmation, receipts, and a clear release timeline for everything else.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If DHL refuses, then responsibility for destroying lawful personal effects\u2014books, clothes, computers, and family belongings\u2014lies squarely with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is no longer just a logistics issue. It\u2019s a matter of accountability. Silence and evasion deepen reputational damage. Leaders take note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline is 5pm, Sunday 14th September 2025. After that, escalation continues\u2014with regulators, media, and legal avenues in Vietnam, Australia, and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"lesson-for-leaders\">\n  <h3>Lesson for DHL<\/h3>\n  <p>Leadership isn\u2019t tested when things run smoothly \u2014 it\u2019s revealed in how you respond to failure, contradiction, and scrutiny. Proportionality matters.
