Start again from scratch<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Amazon has now offered me what they describe as the \u201cmost efficient path forward\u201d in resolving my locked KDP account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their proposal? Open an entirely new KDP account, then trust them to migrate my existing books and earnings across.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Says yet another, different, Amazon employee: “Given the difficulties you’ve faced in regaining access to your original account, would you be open to creating a new KDP account and having us transfer your existing books and earnings over? This may be the most efficient path forward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this stage, dear, my faith in your company’s technical ability to do that can only be measured at the sub-atomic level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The farce continues<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s be clear: this isn\u2019t a solution. It\u2019s an admission of systemic incompetence dressed up as customer support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine your bank saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSorry, we can\u2019t help you access your account. Why don\u2019t you just open a new one, and we\u2019ll see if we can transfer your balance across?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No regulator would tolerate that response. Yet Amazon, the self-proclaimed \u201cEarth\u2019s most customer-centric company,\u201d offers it as their final word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

What they admitted in writing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s what the latest response confirms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. No manual fix.<\/strong> Even when the system itself blocks the customer, Amazon refuses to intervene.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. No ownership.<\/strong> No single employee will take responsibility end-to-end.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. No continuity.<\/strong> Their best idea is to make authors start over and hope royalties, books, and accounts migrate \u201cefficiently.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Meanwhile, they admit royalties continue to accrue. Translation: Amazon is sitting on money I\u2019ve already earned, while telling me to rebuild my professional publishing identity from scratch.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n\n\n\n

    Why this matters<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    This isn\u2019t just about one frustrated author. It\u2019s about a trillion-dollar company whose systems are broken, whose culture punishes accountability, and whose idea of \u201ccustomer service\u201d is to push the work back onto the customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Amazon is withholding earned royalties and telling authors: start over if you want to be paid.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I call that unconscionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
